Looking for a little more range. I already have a very accurate .308. Should i go with a .300, 7mm, or .270 WSM?

.300winmag has great range so do the 7mms. But i own a .270WSM and i dont think either can touch that speed demon. So the WSM gets my vote. My next round is gonna be a .308 how does yours shoot?

A 300 WSM would be a good choice if you don't want to have to buy different bullets, bore jag, patches etc. and also it might be slightly better on larger game.
If you want more range for antelope or deer size game the 270 WSM is a very sweet round......DJ

Just for your info, there is only .9 of an inch difference between a 270 win and a 270wsm 130 gr @300 yards, when sighted in at 200 yards. The 270 win is also only .3 inch higher at 100 yards and less than 3 inches different @ 400 yards. The velocity difference is only 200 fpa. Less if you load the 270 win to it's full potential. The 270 wsm is already maxxed out and then some. Oh yea, I do have both rifles, along with both the 300 win mag and 300 wsm. I like 'em all, but the wsm's are a little lighter. If I could really, really only have one, it would be...............................................................I can't pick one, I like 'em all.

My .308 is a dream. Originally a 7mm-08, it had was rechambered because the original riflings were cut wrong from the factory didnt want to sell someone a gun that would shoot right so it was rechambered in .308 with a douglas contour barrel, floated and glass filled. I use it out to about 200 yards for deer. I use factory Hornady 150gr Interbonds with great success. I have only shot one deer that decided to run. Im in the market for a little more downrange trajectory, considering the 300WSM, 7mmWSM, and 270WSM because of the short action and light weights. Which is the best choice for deer and medium game?

If you want one of the wsms for deer only I would go with the 270. Personaly for a long range deer cartridge I would go with a 270 winchester, or a 25,06, a 7mm remington mag is a great option too. I personaly am not a big fan of the short mags, i know they work fine but so do the old ones ...tj3006

I would suggest sticking with the .308" since you already have the bullets. It's a great caliber, and you can get some pretty insane velocities in the right chambering. Maybe a RUM. I think Winchester has chambered the 300Wby also. Another great round in the 308 caliber.

i'd go up..338 win mag or down 25'06 depending on what you plan to kill.. your original choices are really not that different than a 308

I don't know. A 308 Winchester shooting 150g pills is a different animal entire than a 7mm STW or 300 Wby shooting 170-190g.

Frankly, you don't need another rifle... the 308 is perfect. If it were me I'd find a load your rifle likes and send the scope off to Premier Reticle and have them install 300, 400 and 500 yard dots. I'd also buy a Leica 1200 rangefinder... then you'd be more prepared for long shooting than just buying another rifle and you'd have some leftover cash in your pocket for hunting.

Do like I did. I've got one of each. The 300WSM is in the stainless classic and the 270WSM is built on a Ruger No. 1. Both are great shooters.

Well, for a fun shooting long reaching rifle, you should get a 264 Win. But it would have to be a custom or used since it is no longer chambered by the majors, and ammo is almost impossible to find.
Hey, maybe that is why it was not in your list of options.
My next choice would be the 270 WSM, it very closely matches the attributes of the good old 264. It has fairly light recoil and extremely flat trajectories with lighter bullets and is able to deliver smashing performance on deer sized game with bullets on the heavy end.
