I use the barnes x-bullet (150 gr) in my 30-378 sako. It doesn't seem to like anything over 150 grains and I figured there's probably nothing out there that would be tougher and have a better ballistic coefficient than the 150 x-bullet. It is a match for any non dangerous north american game. It is enough bullet for elk and moose as long as you aren't trying "texas heart shots" or trying to pound through shoulder bones. I shot a 6x6 elk a few yrs back with a muzzle velocity of 3700 fps. Range was a whopping 80 yds. It was a quartering shot from behind the rib cage and it exited and hit the offside front leg. (still going fast enough that the offside leg bones were mush) I figure the pedals probably sheared off at that speed and range but it really didn't matter cause the elk fell on the spot. I guess a flat, blunt, chunk of copper going about 3500 fps is not friendly to the inside of any living animal!! I would say that if your gun likes the 165 it would be the perfect choice of speed and wt for a 300 win mag but a 150 is certainly going to work.

I just settled on a 150 TSX load in my 300 Win Mag for an antelope hunt in September. I'm at work, so I don't have my load data, however, I believe I am using 80 grains of Reloader 22, Federal Match brass, CCI Large Rifle Magnum primer. This deliver about 3,350 fps out of my 26" barrel with sub MOA accuracy. I think I also tried up to 82 grains of RL22 for 3,400+ fps, but the accuracy was slightly better with 80 grains.

Should make a great long range antelope load. I hope to find out the 1st weekend of September.

The 150 TSX shoot fair in my .308 at 1-3/4 at 100..The Noslers shoot 1//2 inch..but both are fine for hunting IMO...

Same in my 300 H&H but it shoots the blue 165 gr. Barnes X better than any bullet at a constant 1/2 inch..Noslers next at 1 inch average...

The above are 3 shot groups not 5 and 5 shot groups open them a tad, but not a lot....

I was sure the TSX would add some accuracy but not the case in my guns....
