Handled a new M70 Extreme Weather in 300 Win Mag. Very nice rifle. Fit and finish was very good, and action nice and smooth but still tight. I also handled a Vanguard Series 2 in 300 Win Mag (they didn't have a 300 Weatherby in stock). It also is a very nice rifle for under $600. Lots of good choices out there ...

Chuck

The new M-70 can be had for around $650 or so if you shop around a bit.....and it's a fine shooter as well as looker...IMO it's one of today's best new rifle bargans....

Wow, I've never seen the M70 EW for under 900$ in Denver!

The new M70 Extreme Weathers are very good guns and a great gun for the money.
I wish it was possible for me to buy it here in Norway in something else than 308 win......

I think you are right. The extreme weather is noticeably more expensive than my new featherweight. I think I paid between 650-700 for mine. Vapo is right about the bang for the buck. Great rifle for the price.

I recently purchased a Mod 70 EW in 300 wsm. Very nice rifle thst is lightweight yet very well balanced. Just started loading for it, but it does not appear that it will be a problem to find a hunting load that will shoot well. My bullet of choice is the Barnes 168gr TSX that shoots very well in my '06.

The Weatherby Vanguards are nice as well, with an excellant reputation for accuracy, though I do not have any personal experience with them.
