A 340WBY for black bear??? Is it your only rifle? Wow. Don't worry about the bullet. The muzzle blast should not only kill him but cook one side.

Your the first person that I have ever talked to that blew a woodleigh bullet apart..I have shot all manner of big beasts with them and all with perfect expansion...Apparantly your shooting them into dirt or too fast in the 340 and need a heavier bullet..I doubt if they were designed for the 340...You sure won't blow the 300 gr. Woodleigh up a bear...I have shot them through Cape Buffalo.
