I posted in another section that I got a Remington 700 7mm mag from my Grandfather.
I went out today and shot it for the first time. I also got all the reloading stuff along with it. I loaded some 160 gr Sierra SBT's with Reloader 22. This was the first group.

This was the second group. I wanted to move the point of impact to 3" high. For some reason instead of getting 1" of elevation I got about 2" but the group was amazing.

Wow! That's about as good as it'll get for a hunting rifle! Well done!

In thinking about that second group, I know a lot of ccenterfire benchrest shooters who would LOVE getting a group like that on every relay!!!
You could not ask for a better group from a shot placement point of view; it's a perfect cloverleaf. A textbook group if I ever saw one.
Kudos to the shooter, 'cause shooting a 7mm Mag isn't like shooting a 6mm PPC, recoil wise.
I have a 7mm Mag, and I'm happy with three shots in a 1/2" group at 100.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute....now you all know that a Remington is a piece of $h!t rifle (I know, I have quite a few), and they can't really shoot. That MUST be a CRF model 70. Razzer

I love my Remington 7mag! Shoots very well! To think, I almost sold it. That would have been DUMB.

You got that right. I've got 2 700 7RMs and one Abolt and all three will break 1/2 moa with handloads. I'd be just flat out crazy to sell em.

Shot a .6 at 200 with the abolt R22 and 150 NBTs last time I took it out, gotta love it. The 2 700s have broke an inch quite a few few times at 200 as well.

You want hear what makes it even sweeter....I only gave a fella 350!!!!!

I really never expected it to shoot that good, it's only the second Abolt I've ever owned and the 1st was sub moa but nothing compared to this rifle. I've had it to the range only 3-4 times and have already turned in sub 1/2" groups at 100 and sub 1" at 200. It will hang right with my two HB target rifles and it's a wood stocked sporter! The only down side is it does have a slow bbl for a 7RM but, with the accuracy, I could care less. Very rare to get a factory rifle that shoots that good. I've only done load development on 3-4 factory sporter rifles that would shoot less than 1" at 200 yards(2-M700s, 1-M70, and 1 BAB). I consider sub 2" good at 200 and sub 1.5" at 200 great for sporter hunting rifles. Any rifle that will shoot a 1.5" group at 200 is very effective on big game out to 400+ yards assuming the shooter is practiced and knows his trajectory at said range.

Good Luck

The best thing about this rifle is it was my Grandpa's. He had the barrel floated and the trigger done years ago. All I had to do was put a scope on it and shoot it. I understand he shot it very well. I can see why now. Ron

The 7mm rounds are very acurate as a whole.
I have 3 now and all shoot really well. And my 7mm mauser is a featherweight Ruger #1.
I can't see the pictures ,posted but my 7mm stw (a model 70) is stunningly acurate.
I had a very acurate Model 700 in 7 mag. Sold it my hunting partner.
Just not a 700 guy. I don't know anybody who says they are not acurate.
I might just get one in 308 or 6mm One day. But I would prefer a 722, ...tj3006

The picture just showed up on my screen and That looks just like best group I have from my stw, using a 160 grain acubond and I think RL-25.
I use RL-22 in my frends 7mag and 2 frends 300 wins. It is also very good with 180s in the 06.
I was disapointed in the results I got with RL-22 in my 25,06 and my 270, though I know it works for many...tj3006
