Hello,
Just bougth a new to me Ruger MkII left handed rifle in 300win mag. (Used rifle bought as is. No chance to return) Can't get a scope bore sighted. Cant get enought vertical adjusment.
It is like the front ring is too high. Tried two different sets of ruger rings with the same results. I put this scope on another rifle and no problem.
Any suggestions on fixing this?

Do you mean it looks like the bore is pointed too low?

It's not common but on some rifes the action and barrel aren't properly threaded straight. When that happens the most practical cure is to shim the scope mount to compensate.

OOOPS! Jusr re-read your post, a Ruger. Sorry, don't know what you can do.

I would try swapping the rings front to back is they can be. If you still can't get the scope to line up you can get a Burris/ ruger coversion base then try their signature rings. http://www.burrisoptics.com/bases1.html#3 They have inserts to correct this issue.

As usual just my $.02

Thanks guys. Someone pointed out that M77 rings have different front and back rings. I was using a set from a Number 1 I had. I pretty sure I have the wrong rings.
Thanks

scope should be parallel to the axis of the bore. If the front or rear is higher or lower you have the wrong rings. If it still isn't cured you need a scope with more inches of adjustment. Put a leupold shotgun or muzzleloader scope on it. They have twice as much travel/adjustment.

You've located the problem.
