Sometimes it isn't the quantity of shots that washes out a barrel but your shooting habits.
For instance if you shoot 5 shots then let the barrel cool before you shoot it again then you will get 7-10,000 shots maybe out of that gun, but if you have a habit of shooting that gun till the barrel is so hot you can't hold your hand on it then shooting some more your barrel life may be half over.
Just a question, are you having trouble with your accuracy and thinking your barrel is on the slide?
If so I'd try to fix it with a vigorous cleaning, better than you've ever cleaned it before. If that has no effect then I would swap scopes on it with another rifle that gives proven accuracy just to test it.
I've actually had scopes that still tracked well on adjustments but were inable of giving me small groups, switched to another scope off of a varmint rifle that delivers tiny groups and problem is solved.
Good luck!

PS: nice one Catboat! clap

I have a 1973 Remington BDL in 7MM Magnum. It's has always shot Max loads from Hornady Vol II. I remains very accurate and shoots sub MOA close to around .75 most of the time if I'm doing my part. There is no sign that the accuracy is fading.
