Got A Brand New Kimber 8400 Patrol Tactical....
A kind friend gave me a brand new Kimber 8400 Patrol Tactical.

I have installed a Kahles K624i - 6-24X - scope on it, and have been trying to clean the barrel for two days!!

Still getting copper out using Sweet 7.62 two days on.

Not sure if the barrel is rough or it has been shot so much.

It was in its original factory box, and he says he got it straight from the shop here.

Will try to see how it shoots, and if the fouling continues.

Good rifle barrels don't leave heavy copper fouling in the bore even after many rounds through them. I bought a used Ruger 77 MKII in 30/06 some years ago and it looked new but was full of copper. I spent a couple days removing a lot of copper and it was down to barrel steel but after firing about 20 rounds fairly accurately it started going south for accuracy. I again cleaned down to bare steel and then lapped the barrel with a soft lead slug and lapping compound until my arm felt like it could fall off. The rifle was very accurate and left nearly no copper in the bore after repeated firing after this procedure. I have read that a cut and crowned barrel should not be lapped but I had no ill effects from doing it.

Cleaned completely today - third day!!

I have a few other jobs to do then I will try it.

All our bullets are Molly coated, so hopefully will not have to go through this again.

If it does not start behaving, it may be time to order a custom barrel. We only have so many heart beats in our lives. No good to waste too many of them mining for copper that you have already paid. for.

Good luck. Do keep us informed. I wonder if this a common problem with Kimdber rifles.

from what I have seen their barrel quality isn't the greatest.
an 800 grit re-finish may help the fouling problem.

Well, I fired one 5 shot group, using 168 Sierra MK, 43 grains of BL-C2, Federal 210 in RWS brass.

Have not measured it yet, but it looks just one large hole!!

I use quite a bit of it too; meters exceptionally well.
