Well, I finally ordered up a new 9.3x62. Its a stainless barreled action from Montana Rifle Company. I figured I have enough .338's and I have been itching to try a 9.3. Any advice on a stock? I am considering something from Accurate Innovations. Any one have experience with their stocks? I saw them at an SCI convention and the stocks looked great. I thought it would work well as a take down for travel.

AK, Well done Mate the 9.3 is a great calibre! Do Mc Millam make a stock that will fit your rifle? Perhaps others can tell us if they do.

AK hunter, the AI stocks are very nice and totally repeatable when you remove the action and reinstall it. Accuracy is first rate and felt recoil seems to be less than the typical wood stock. I have two for the 1999 actions, one for a 338-06 and the other for a 6.5x55. I also have one for a Remington SA that performs as well as those aforementioned. The only problem I can see is they are almost too nice to take in rough country, but I can get over that.

What length and contour of barrel did you order? I have a R93 with a 22 inch barrel, and I know they make them with 20 inch barrels. I think it would be a fun bear gun for SE Alaska. 5 shots is a big plus! I would either use a Basner Hi Tech stock or a McMillan Echols. Unless your a fan of thumbholes, then you'll need to call MPI. I would love to have a 9.3x64 in a M70 stainless or Montana with a drop mag in a thumbhole.

Yes, I think it will make a great bear and moose gun. I ordered a 24" #4 contour barrel. I know some folks insist on a short barrel for bear hunting, but I have hunted Alaska for 25 years with 24" and 26" barrels and have not had any problems. I am leaning towards a laminated stock at this time.

richards microfit makes some decent laminated stocks. Did one for a 375 recently. Tell them exactly what you want!

The McMillan Sako Hunter styled stock will work for that action as well. LD

Am in the process of going the 9.3 x 62 route myself. However, I purchased a CZ 550 American. Dies, brass, barnes 250 gr triple shocks and the rifle for appprox $700. Test target has 3 shots at approx 3/4". Unfortunately they did not include the load data. Going to my deer lease July 8. Hopefully I'll be able to work up a load and thump a couple hogs. GWB

Absolutely go with Accurate Innovations. I just took delivery on 2 custom rifles with Accurate's stocks- beautiful work, and a great system. I plan to post pics of the rifles in the Big Bore section. My custom guy said they were great to work with.
