I just bought a 7 mm Rum in a Sendero with a luepold vx3 4.5x14x50. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as far as bullets and powder. It will be used for whitetails mostly. Thanks Eric

Bullets: 140 up to 175 gr nosler partitions, 140 and 160 gr accubond, 140, 150 and 160gr Barnes TSX, 139 and 154 Hornady interbond, Swift 150 gr Scirocco, any of the Swift a-frame's. There are many more premium bullets to pick from. Some just lesser known. You many want to use a High B.C. premium bullet to take full advantage of all the velocity the 7 rum has to offer; ie-increased point blank range. I haven't played with many powders. I have had best luck so far with RL25. Retumbo, H870(discontinued), AA8700, AA Magpro, WC872, Western's Magnum, and h-1000 all could work. (there are others too) The slower(slowest)burning powders will probably give you the best performance as the 7 rum is one seriously overbore cartridge. Study the all the published/pressure tested reloading data you can find on the 7 rum and then you can get started. I presently use a load of RL25, Rem case, 150 Nosler partition, Fed 215 Match primer and get good accuracy and average about 3450 velocity (chrono'ed). 26" bbl mod 700 LSS. I think that with the right powder one could get 3600 out of a 140, 3500 out of a 150, 3350-3400 out of a 160, and around 3200 plus out of a 175 gr bullet in the 7 rum. Each gun is different however. Hodgdon is introducing a new powder in 06' called H869 which is supposed to replace H870. Might be worth a look. I'm in the process of trying some 140 TSX's. Later some 160 accubonds. I think thats what I hoping to end with a good hunting load for is the 160 accubond. I'll take accuracy over sheer speed though. The gun will tell me what it likes and then I can decide.
