Found a really nice condition Sako 75 stainless synthetic in .270 up in NH, price $975 with rings.
Anyone have some experiences good or bad with this rifle you are willing to share? Has it lived up to the accuracy guarantee? Preference for 130gr or 150gr bullets?

i have a hunting buddy who has that same rifle. he shoots 150gr partitions for deer, elk, hogs, and anything else he is after. he has taken 5 elk that i know of. his rifle is very accurate with his handloads. i have never heard of a sako that wasn't moa or better. others may differ. nice cond. ain't the same as excellent - i'd offer 9 fresh $100.00 bills and see what the seller does. you can always offer the asking price later.

wonderful rifles, we have 2 in our family, they shoot and function great. Good advice to offer him $900, that would be a fair price.

The 270 is a very common cartridge. I would see if the guy will go $900 out the door. Plenty of good deals out there. Lou

I can't comment on the price of your Sako but I can tell you what I've found shoots in my pre-64 .270.
My load is a 150 gr. Partition in front of 57 gr. of Rldr-22. I shot my 1st caribou with a .270 Win. using a 130 Gr. Partition years ago. It worked fine but since I was planning on doing a bit of assistant guiding, I decided I wanted a bit heavier bullet for backup. I've just stuck with that bullet for the last 40 years or so and can say it works fine up here for sheep, caribou and I personally would use it on moose & interior grizzly but I have a lot of confidence in my ability with it. I hope you enjoy your new toy. Bear in Fairbanks

I have the exact same rifle and caliber which l bought when Sako came out with its first synthetic/stainless rifle.

I have used the rifle for moose and deer hunting. Loaded with 150 gr Partitions and H4831 it has never failed to produce nice sub MOA groups and no problems when it comes to results on game.

The only downside is that it is a bit heavy however one can easily live with it given its performance.

I am sure you will be pleased with the rifle.

I have a Sako 75 Finnlite in 270 Winchester. It is an absolute drill. It's shot several sub 1" groups at 200yds and every once in a while at 300yds - with hunting bullets!
It handles great and shoots great, what's not to like?...........................DJ

What DJ said, I have several, one in factory plastic, one in an Edge stock form McMillan--SWEEEET--and one in a 'regular' swirly color Mickey.

I haven't weighed one in a while, but unlike chico1, my factory stainless synthetic seems pretty light to me.....

Great pickup with your new rifle. 140gr Accubonds or TTSX's get my vote. I use 140gr Accubonds in my 270WSM. Great on elk, moose, bears, deer here in Alberta.

I do not have a Sako in the 270Win but have several Sako m75ss & Greywolf rifles - LOVE THEM!!!

MP, I can't believe you openly confess such a glaring gap in you Sako arsenal! The first step to curing a problem is admitting you have one though! Wink

Just like every other Sako lover - I HAVE NO PROBLEM...lol

I'm tempted to buy mint Sako m75ss 270WSM and put a Macmillan stock on it but I have 2 Tikka T3 LS 270WSM rifles right now. I found a mint m85 Greywolf 270WSM too but prefer the stock of a m75 rifle.

MAybe if I sell one of my Tikkas, then I may buy the m75ss 270WSM. Cant sell the other since its my wife's and some years she is the one putting the meat on the table for our family.

Westernmass--sorry for the thread hijack--

but.....MP, first off, GOOD strategy in leaving your wife's rig alone! The 270 WSM in the Grey Wolf in the 75 is great, but I will tell you that mine took the second most load development of any SAKO I've had. The other one was also a short mag--300 WSM hunter. My Sako guru tells me that it is tricky sometimes with the small contour factory barrels, but I've got 4 others that shot great right out of the box, even with factory, so I just figure it's the 'every rifle is an individual thing'.....The grey wolf is a little heavy, but most mine all shoot so good, despite a little lengthy load development for one or two!

I've got a Nightforce 5.5x22 on the 270 WSM grey wolf, and it will really reach out there with the 140 AB's!
