It actually came with a Tasco already mounted on it. I'll probably swap that out for the Leopuld 2x7 I had bought for the 375 H&H. I love using the irons on the 375, so the scope has been sitting in the gunsafe. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Get rid of both and get .338Magnum. Americans have a saying that goes something like: "beware of fellow with one rifle".

Your seem very pragmatic with the 30-06 and 375. So here are my suggestions for you.
458 Lott, I personally like the 404 Jeffery but then I like nostalgia.
7mm-08 comes to mind sticking with a pragmatic approach. 260 Rem just isn't mainstream enough. 6.5x55 is a handloaders proposition due to the anemic factory loads for the old rifles still out there. 270 Win is awful close to the 30-06.

I own a 30/06, a 375 H&H and alot more. I've never used my 375 H&H to kill anything. my 30/06 has killed some deer .

If you wanted to go down, for me it would be the .257 Wby. If you wanted to go between the 30-06 and .375, for me it is the .340 Wby. Either way you would be covered for just about anything you wanted to hunt. Good shooting. phurley

For a 2 rifle world wide battery, the 30-06 - .375 H&H is a reasonable choice. But neither fit well in my idea of an optimum 3 rifle world wide battery. For me it would be a .270 Winchester for sub 350lb game, a .338 WM for all NA game above 350lb and African game above 350 except thick skinned dangerous game and giraffe, and .416 Rem or Rigby for dangerous game. The .270 and .338 buy you a little better long range performance than the '06 and .375 and the .416 is noticably better on the thick skinned dangerous stuff than the .375. If you keep the 2 you've got, a .25-06 or something similar would give you improved long range capability on sub 200-250lb game.

Let this be a lesson to all rifle cranks - DO NOT buy a 30-06 and 375 H&H as your first rifles. By avoiding the 30-06, I've been able to justify buying a couple dozen "specialized" small bores below .375. I do have a couple of 375s but I need to get rid of them as they cover too much ground and leave little justification for all the medium bores and big bore rifles I own (or want to own). ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." This is very good advice. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

I was trying to be a glass half type of guy by pointing out the pragmatic approach. But what do I know, I own a bunch of rifles, but none that are 30-06 or 375 chambered. I was talking with the guy that leases our farmground. He was talking about how he has a bunch of guns. I really got interested, then he stated moslty shotguns, and my concentration rapidly faded, then he said a few were 22's, I got a little interested again. He ended with saying he only had one hunting rifle. A 30-06, couldn't argue there. Plus he has a truck gun (223) because ammo is so cheap. But he went on to say he has trouble hitting coyotes way out there.
