I just got my reloading dies and brass now I want to start reloading for my 350. The question how long will the magazine of the 700 SA allow me to seat the bullets out. I've heard it is only 2.800 is this true? Any 700 350 Rem owners out there. I get my rifle on Thursday.

You're in the ballpark. Mine allows 2.825", limited by the magazine, and, I use that length with 225 Sierras and 200 Hdy Spire Points.

Just be sure to check the throat length, after you see what your magazine will allow. 250 Hdy RN's must be seated to 2.790" in mine.

Good luck with your new toy.

Measure the throat, measure the mag box. Whichever of these is the shortest will be your limiting factor. You can also extend the mag box and throat the gun a little deeper, for a col of about 3.1-3.2", but it's a lot of fiddling to get it all right. On the other hand, having the extra length really makes that 350 get up and go (2650 fps with 250 gr bullets easy out of a 20" barrel). FWIW - Dan

R-West,
How does your remington shoot? I'm using the 225 Sierra bullets too. I'm hoping to maybe get between 2600-2700 fps with the bullet. Right now I have a lot of 4320 so that is the powder I"m starting with.

It shoots amazingly well, as I've discovered a lot of the bigger bores will do. The 225 Sierra has produced many 1" groups, and shoots pretty flat at longer range. I've never used that particular bullet on game, so, can't help you there.

I don't have my load notes here, so, I'm not positive as to what the recipe's were, but, it's hard to find a bad one. 4320 is an excellent choice, in fact, Steve highlights it as the best with 225 grainers at his page http://stevespages.com/358_3_225.html

RedSide,

I also have a Classic in 350 RM. Just love to shoot it. I was able to load to a max OAL of 2.840" in mine and that was pushing it. Have since had the magazine box extended to allow OAL of 2.950".

Have had good luck with Hornady 200g SP for whitetail. With 56.0g BenchMark at 2,725fps am averaging about 5/8" groups. That's probably not the best powder for max velocity. Just bought a can of the Alliant's new RL-10x. Can't wait to try it as it should be ideal in the 350 RM.

Just got the classic yesterday. I had already loaded up 3 rounds with 56 grains of 4320 with the 225 Sierra and 3 more rounds with 57 grains. After two shots to sight it in, I used the 57 grains loaded to OAL of 2.800 not knowing where to start. First three shot group went at exactly 1 inch. I'm feeling pretty good about what this rifle may be able to do with a little load development. I haven't had time for a chronograph session yet. I'll keep you posted though. I think I have it good enough that I can take it elk hunting this weekend.

good for you! another 350 rem mag owner.
i have good luck with W748 and hornady 200 and 250 sp's. if you try a full house load with 250's, tie your hat on!
ALWAYS wear hearing protection with this. even hunting. some sonic plugs or such. the first time i shot mine in the woods without it. never again. did some damage in one ear and my head rang for days. just an fyi.
good luck and enjoy!

Same with me, but it got both of my ears and they still ring which is no fun at all.

The Sonic Ear Valves "whtlhntr" mentioned are absolutely excellent. They come in a small case with a Keychain which is attached to my trigger guard while the rifle is in the Safe.

One of the very best cartridges for On Game performance coupled with outstanding accuracy potential that has ever been created.

was whtlhntr,
hot core, sorry to hear that. as far as ringing goes both mine are getting worse. if i start to think about it that's all i hear. HUH? i said "IT'S VERY LOUD IN HERE!"
anyway, i have been loading 200 and 250 sp's primarily and just bought three boxes of 225 nosler part. can you see any reason to continue to load anything else for all game if they shoot as well as the sp's did?
i know the 225 is the sweet spot for 338's so i am wondering if i am missing something?
bullet construction being equal there should be no benefit to loading others, correct?
just thinking outloud.
