I've never heard of a 200 gr. bullet going 3,000 fps out of a 300 Win Mag unless it had, perhaps, a 28" barrel. Still, I'd always choose a 200 grainer in a 30 cal over a 200 grainer in a 33. To make a more accurate comparison, a 200 gr bullet out of a 300 Winnie will shoot flatter and out-penetrate a 200 grainer from a 338 Win Mag. The 33's were designed, IMO, for bullets of 225 grains and up. Penetrating big, heavy animals from nearly any angle is what these cartridges are all about... why get hung up on speed over actual field performance? Brad

The heavier for cal. bullet is has better penatration then a ligher for call bullet. Doing the same damage a lot depends on where you hit. I couple thousands of an in and 25 grs diffent in bullet weight given the same bullet type, constrution and vel. the game you shoot isn't going to know the diffeerants. Change any one of the factors you can see the diffenants now and then now all the time.

The 200 grain .338 bullet going 600 ft/sec faster will(same bullet type) expand much more violently and disrupt more tissue even though it will not penetrate as far. Thirty-six -hundred ft/sec is 20% faster velocity than 3,000 ft/sec and that is very sizeable so if these two bullets are some form of premium partition then the .338 bullet will probably penetrate better(if it holds together) due to such a shear difference in velocity.
