Yesterday, my Hogue stock (w/ full bedding block) arrived and I immediately dropped my .338 Win 70 in it. 1st. impression is VG as "metal to rubber" fit is way better than with the factory wooden stock. Also the bbl. is exactly centered in its channel (I'm sort of maniac about that...). This morning I went range testing and : - perceived recoil is much less, thanks to the hollow recoil pad (= about on a par with .300 Win) ; - 1st. group was > 2 MOA, damn it !?!? Then I noticed that the rubber forearm stuck to and rocked my rest. After covering the bags with cloth, the rifle could slide and the next group fell into .6 MOA. At last, I finally got that Win 70* to shoot and look the way I want . * if we may still call it a Winchester for only the original action and trigger remain.

Glad to hear you like the Hogue stock. Lots of people use them these days. They are made about 75 miles from where I live and the company is thriving I believe. However, I have one caution about the Hogue over molded rifle stocks. I have a friend who bought one and really liked it. He went ahead and bought a couple more. He was real happy with them until he set one down in the hot California sun one day while glassing for varmints. When he picked it up the sling swivel pulled right out of the stock. It was not too long until one of the other ones he bought did the same thing. He is now not that happy with the product, to say the least. R F

I'll remember to not lay my Remington 700 Police rifle in direct sunlight... I put it in a Hogue stock with the pillar bedding. I saved the H-S Precision stock with the full bedding block for use later. It was my intention to use the Hogue from the beginning, to save weight. The rifle is probably 2 lbs. lighter than what is usually built out these, because I used as many lightweight components as possible. Hogue makes great stuff, but I'm glad I read this here. Thanks!
