I have owned 5 tikka's in 3006 and 300 Short mag the 06 was a tack driver like a fool i traded it off for the 300 and then problems began first with blueing first time out rusting i sent it back the company sent a new one the finish on the stock pealed of when the stock got a little wet sent it back they sent another one the safety wouldn't stay on safe sent it back now i have a stainless with a lam stock real pretty but to get it to shoot under an 1.5 inch at 100 yrds is seems almost impossible. I have been hand loading for 30 plus years and never had any trouble with accuracy before. I was wondering if there is any one that is real proud of their tikka 300 short mag are you loading all factory shells or what ??

I have a 300 WSM that shoots under MOA. The stock is synthetic and I guess it is the Lightweight. I have a 595 in 338 Win Mag and a T3 in 308 . All are very accurate.

OldTimer,

I don't have a .300WSM, but I have a wood/blued .243 Tikka that'll regularly group 5 shots into 3/8ths of an inch with 100gr BT's in front of 39.5gr IMR 4350.

I'm sorry to tell you this old lad but my 6.5x55 Tikka T3 will put a mixture of 139 grain PMC and 156 grain Norma into a ragged hole. Over the years I've had 3 6.5's, a Ruger, a Husqvarna, and the Tikka. All three of them shot well, the Tikka is the most acurate of the three.

check your stock real well. My 338 laminated stainless tikka split the stock and accuracy went to pot, it was a really hairline crack that you could hardly see without taking the action out of the stock.
