Dempsey,

I've got a M70 in .338-06, 24" Lilja 2.5-8X Leupold in Talleys. Worked well for me in RSA with 250 NP's and home on elk with 225 NP's.

Regular old IMR 4831 or RL15/RL19 work just fine. Even IMR 4350 gave good velocity.

I really didn't have any problems getting workable accuracy or velocity with my .338-06 .

Arnold did my rifle as well as several others over the past 25 years. He is first rate. Be assured it will be done right. If You have any problems he WILL make it right.

Where Ya at?? I'm south of the Cascade/ L&C County line on the River.

My rifle was consistently below average in groups with 4064 and H414, shot 210 NP 1.25 with Big Game. When I switched to Big Game and 210 TSX, it never groups 3 shots into over .75, usually .5-.6 with some in the .3-.4 at 100. Velocity is 2800 fps, with 5 shots varying less than 10 fps. I load the same amount of BG that I loaded with H414, haven't put a strain gauge on this rifle yet, but by all indicators pressure may be a bit less than H414. .338-06 users should give this powder a try. It has always been a great powder in the 9.3x62 as well.

Arnold is absolutely a great guy not to mention a talented Smith. I really look forward to it. The process has been a pleasure. I'm ordering my dies and rings today. Should be shooting in a month or so.

I probably float by your place a couple times a week in my pontoon boat. I put in across from the Dearborn and float home. I live on Willington Lane just south of the Hardy bridge. We moved here a few years ago after my wife got a job In Great Falls, I still commute to Helena. We really love it here, nice neighbors and great scenery.

WHEN You get the gun back drop me a line or stop in. I've got a LOT of .338" slugs that I don't load anymore as all I use are 225/250 np's. So if you wanna try 5 of this or 5 of that I may have them.

Thanks, I will. I have a number of .308 and .284 bullets I don't use anymore. Maybe I could return the favor.
