Hey Tom P:

You Moreno Valley guys still fighting off all the gang bangers? LOL. And where pray tell, are all the orange groves? Oh yeah I forgot, there are still some groves near interstate 10 and boulder ave. in Redlands. Tom, I am just messing with you, I am originally from San Bernardino, and I still have a lot of family in the Riverside/San Bernardino area. But the best thing I ever did was move to Arizona with my wonderful 35 Whelen.

I dont post often but have to add my 2 cents worth on this topic. I have 2 35 Whelens, an original run 7600 and a custom built on an 03 springfield action. Both kill deer like the hammer of Thor. I got interested in the Whelen back in the 80s when Bob Milek wrote of his experience with the round. He thought it was one of the finest all around rounds he had used and he had used them all. I am very happy with it and will always have one around. The 35 Whelen is very efficient and works every time and that folks is always the bottom line.

Moreno Valley has its imperfections, and that's a fact. It's not all one place though. If you knew it as Sunnymead and Edgemont, it was small and the big differences in neighborhoods came from the percentage of March AFB officers that lived there as opposed to enlisted men. Now it's almost as big as Riverside, and there are big variations between neighborhoods. I haven't felt endangered there.

Out towards the end of Van Buren Blvd, the Gless Ranch still has miles of orange groves, and it's just wonderful to smell it in April and May when they're in bloom. It will just float you away. The groves have been disappearing however, and there may come a day when Riverside imports oranges. Much depends on the cost of water for irrigation.
