I need some expert/experenced help. I'm planning to purchase a 300 win. mag. as a gift for my father and I do not know which rifle is the best savage model 111fcxp3 or the remington 710. As it is a gift price is an object hence to two choices. I'm looking for your experences, gun shops seem only interested in selling and are short hard facts. Please help.

My hunting buddie just aquired a 710 from Wholesale in Alberta. The trigger pull on that thing is horrendeous! It actually bottomed out my RCBS "Trigger Pull Gauge" and still had to be pulled on a lot harder. The accuracy of it is still debatable at this time but he only ran 20 rounds through it so it isn't broken in and it does show some good potential if the trigger problem is corrected. derf
