Well I was going to be a smart a$$ and say yes by another name. Then had and the brain woke up to figure I was thinking of the 275 Rigby. Other than being different and having a better name doubt you get much if any over the 7mag. But would be great around the campfire. Will be interested in results. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Close. I owned one that G&H had converted to the 280 DuBiel cartridge for several years. The originals were, iirc, just a necked-down 300. It would be a good companion to a switch barrel 375 for Africa, or anywhere else in the world.

At one time about 7-8 years ago, I had an Interarms Mark X rebarreled to a .275 H&H with a .284 bore. I ordered custom brass through Midway as I recall, and it was a tack driver with great wood from an original Whitworth rifle. Sold it way too cheaply with scope, dies, brass, and bullets. At the time, I had a Mark X in .375 H&H, .300 H&H, .275 H&H, and .240 H&H. It was quite a collection of beautiful rifles in H&H chamberings. I guess I've moved on since I just recently sold the last one in .240 H&H. No but I used the 7x61S&H cartridge for several decades, basically identical belted case to the 275H&H, 160gr bullet just hotted up 400fps with modern powders than what the British loaded 275H&H was. Probably can get cases for the 275H&H today but Norma usually does a run of 7x61S&H brass every so often so probably the better cartridge to go for if wanting one of these efficient 7mm magnum rounds.

No, but, yes, I have seen them and confirm that about five years ago when I contacted them that H & H still had ammunition and, of requested, would still chamber their rifles in that calibre. It is, as you know, from the era of .280 Ross..280 Jeffery and the other then new "hot" 7mm's. But its HUGE advantage is that it doesn't use .288" but .284" bullets. It is also like the ..240 H & H and .375 H & H but unlike the "fugly" .244 H & H and .300 H & H a visually elegant cartridge. If you can overcome the ammunition availability problem what's not to like!

I have a few original ww factory rounds. It exhibits the typical sever body taper of the H&H cartridges. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
