Ray We have gone a full circle I already stated my views like yours earlier. I don't do partial FL sizing every single time. I FL size every 3 or 4 reloads. My above post was regarding establishing an accurate hunting load with tight groups. I agree that smooth and easy feeding and loading from the mag are critical for a hunting rifle in the field.

Naki, Well you said not and quoted me in red print? ..Im not sure what that ment? and doesn't apply to my method, at the shot my case will move a bit less than factory but be as easy to function, and basically is full length resized, and that suits me fine...I never neck size, and have never noticed any difference in case life, heavy loads are what works on case life btw..Whites lab has done neck sizing cases against full length and found no difference at all in case life or accuracy..at any rate 06 brass is cheap and of no concern to me past 8 resizes or even less sometimes. That said I find no fault in your method, many have used it for ions, and it works. I guess Im saying there is more than one way to skin a cat. FL sizing resizes the case so it can fit back into the chamber.I just run the case as far as I can in the die-very simple.Depending on what chambering you are loading for you can partially size if you have a big factory chamber. If you have a tight chamber just FL size. There is no point in sizing to an exact dimension. You will get exact dimension when you fire the sized round. | |||
