Are Christensen arms rifles really worth the price? Do you get what you pay for?

My father has several--along w/ a dozen or more other customs--and claims they shoot as well. I think they are over priced.
I'm having a different smith build me a rifle very similar to the Christensen for much less $$$.

What are some of the other places that build good rifles?

what caliber are you building. I have several of them and if a dangerous game rifle i might go somewhere else .400 or above. 375 RUM and down mine shoot really good and seem to shoot most loads.IF bigger cal I would go with AHR

I am trying to decide between a 7STW and a 300RUM.

Hi coyote bait........

If you want a hell of a rifle at an ubelievably reasonable price call Charley Robertson at Score High Gunsmithing here in Albuquerque. (505) 292-5532

He is making some of the most accurate rifles around. Just this weekend at the F class National Championships a gentleman finished second while shooting one of his productions.

He'll make you whatever you want; a hunting rifle or competitive rifle.......

Do the carbon fiber barrels really help you out? Do they have a longer barrel life?

They are lighter.

They are harder to build to make them as accurate as compared with a conventional.
(I have owned only two in magnum calibres)

Properly done in a lightweight hunting rifle they are great.

I do not know of increased longevity claims or reports with repetitive long term use
(competition type, etc)
,perhaps someone else may have insight on this.

I went to gun school in CO with Sterling, and I heard a while back that he had basically retired but his son is builing rifles.

Before Opromises took the throne, I decided to have a 223 bolt gun built to go w/ my black guns. The smith put together a Rem 700, fluted barrel, tefloned and tuned. It shoots very well. Now I'm having him build a 308 to go w/ my Springfields. Same rifle except HS stock and carbon barrel. He tells me the Carbon barrels shoot very well. These are more along the lines of hunter/tactical guns and will be used for hunting unless we have to have another revolution to keep our country. Thinking ahead!
