I want to try the Speer 145 Grain Grand Slam bullet in my 7 MM Remington Magnum and am wondering if any of you have used this bullet/combination before. I am planning on trying H1000, Reloader 22 and H4831 shortcut. please advise. Thank you.

Joel, Welcome aboard!!! I've only used H-4831SC in my 7 mm Mag, and it shoots very well with that bullet weight; three shots cut a 1/2" group at 100 yards. Not versed on the other two powders, but they could very well be the right ones for your rifle. Don

The grand slams are not premium bullets but may in fact be fully equal to them....that said I recommend you only buy one box and try them.....I've tried them three times in .25 cal, .30 cal and .277 cal and didn't get groups to my liking at all....it was a long time ago and things may have changed.....I have better bullets to spend my money on! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Hey Joel, Welcome Aboard! The first comment is excellent advice. You never know for sure what kind of Bullet your rifle will shoot good or bad until you try them. The second bit of advice(things may have changed) is also accurate. At one time the majority of the Grand Slams(exceptions being the 0.243" and 0.257" designs which were always one core) were made with a Dual Core Design. That changed a good many years ago to a single Core Design. The Grand Slams have a small Flat Tip and not as high a Taper as some "new" Designs. Both help in getting a bit less Bullet into the Powder Chamber and a bit closer to the Lands. In some rifles that helps accuracy and it some it doesn't matter at all. ----- I've burned a few 8# jugs of H1000 in various 7mmRemMags and so far they all shot well with it. Also used Fed-215s in all those Loads. Good Hunting and clean 1-shot Kills.

I would also vote H4831, but the RL22 may work well too. I got best accuracy & good vel. w/ H4831sc. The current GS is a single core bullet & only slightly tougher than the std. hotcore in my own informal wetpack tests. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Haven't tried the Grand Slams, but my 7Mag likes H4831 with 145 gr Speer Hot Cores.

I've used the 145gr Speer Grand Slams in my 7mags for about the last twelve years. It is a very good bullet for deer and hogs.I had many DRT kills with them.My load is 65.3grs of IMR-4350.I've used it in my Win. Mod 70 and also my Rem.Sendero with a 26" barrels. It gives me groups of 3/4" or less with both rifles @ chronographed velocities of 3200fps.
