One of my reloading buddies gave me close to a full box of these bullets. I never loaded anything heavier than a 180 grain bullet. Any feedback the good and the bad please. If it worthy I mite just use those to hunt with. I chase bulls n bucks when I draw. I got a few different powders in my stock. Little bit of everything. What powders would be good for the 200 grain ELDX? It's a TC Compass I got not long ago. Only been shot 1 time. Figured it pretty much brand new why get rid of it. Usually a Model 70 fan. Thanks again.

I havent used the ELDX bullets but I have used 200 gr bullets. Ive used the Speer 200 gr Hot Core in a couple 06 s.The Speer is an inexpensive bullet and it shoots very well. Loaded with IMR 4350 it can be loaded to close to 2600 fps.Its bal co-eff is higher than the 180 gr and trajectories are very close. I have taken a couple elk and several moose with 200 gr bullets and they are very effective. The other thing I found is that the 200 gr Nosler Partition shoots to the same point of impact as the Speer bullet in my rifles. So I have developed loads with the inexpensive Speer bullet then dropped a grain or two and switched to the Nosler and worked back up. The 200 gr partition at 2600 fps will handle anything in North America. There is nothing wrong with the performance of the Speer bullet its just that some like a premium bullet for that expensive hunt. If I was starting to develope some new loads I would try 4350 and the new StaBall 6,5 powder.

Nosler Accubonds and partitions work extremely well so I would suspect that a 200 gr ELDX would work on larger Plains game, at any rate they are worth a try. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

We grow as we learn more in life. I always considered the Nosler Partition an excellent bullet, but not in the same class as a SAF or TBBC, NF, etc. I thought of it as my choice for American game and African PG, until my last safari with Andrew in Zambia. He encouraged me to shoot a wonderful big Cape Buffalo (46”) with a 286 NP in my 9.3x66. I balked. He said ‘don’t worry’. My shot was about 130-140 yds., and it hit him in the heart, with a broadside presentation, through the shoulder. He ran for a short distance, and fell over dead. THAT, opened my eyes to the effectiveness of the Nosler Partition. Seeing is believing. I’m not saying it is an Elephant bullet, but it will take about anything short of that I believe. There are bullets that will retain even more weight on impact than a NP, but it’s enough for most all African hunting, and all NA hunting in my opinion, especially after Nosler moved the partition forward on the larger cartridges for Dangerous game. I believe the older partition retained about 50-60%, and the new one about 80-85%. A Classic, wonderful, and effective bullet!
