Terry, I have only seen one in 270WSM and I thought it was well put together and the action seemed pretty decent. Unfortunately when I went back to get it someone beat me to it. Do you have the CM or Stainless version?

The CZ Model 3 is a Montana Rifle Co. (MRC 1999) barreled action with a stock supplied to CZ by American Walnut Co. It's a great rifle. Too bad CZ discontinued them.

I looked at them at the NRA show and liked them, wish they had offered them in a standard length caliber like the 30-06 or 280.

I may be wrong.....But I recnetly heard from a local Dealer who just returned from the SHOT Show that CZ was dropping the #3. The Dealer as a matter of fact bought several on closeout.

In case anyone's interested...

MRC must have some of the CZ3/WSM barreled actions left over from the deal with CZ. They are "on special" on the MRC (Montana Rifle Co.) website.

Thought about grabbing one but caliber choice, only WSM calibers, and cast receivers, I just as well buy a Ruger in a caliber I like and save a few bucks. I still like the imported CZ 550 American, forged receiver, excellent accuracy and reasonable price.

gsears...
agree about the caliber choice. I don't like the short mags either. Also, I bought the same barreled action from MRC last August...CM, LH, in .308 Win. with the WSM barrel contour (#2) on special for $550.
I have no problem at all with the cast receiver and the MRC 1999 is (in my opinion) a much nicer design than the Ruger. It combines the best features of the Mod.70 Win. and 98 Mauser. Model 70 receiver/trigger, Mauser breeching system, CRF, etc. And a short, left hand action, has never been available from Ruger.
Over $800 for the barreled action from MRC does seem a little "steep" to me...especially with WSM's being the only choice. I wonder if the receivers are marked "CZ" or "Montana Rifle Company" like mine?

I was in McBride's Guns in Austin Texas today. I saw a CZ model 3 for about $580. I think it was a 300 WSM. It was new, and marked down.

They are not in CZ's 2006 catalog.
