This is the most accurate projectile in my Vanguard .300 Weatherby. Who has used this projectile and what game have you used it on ? People Sleep Peacefully in Their Beds at Night Only Because Rough Men Stand Ready to Do Violence on Their Behalf.

You are likely to get responses that border on the arguments of religious zealots, just remember lesson 10 & 12 below. Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

We have used the Barnes factory ammo with this bullet and their 180gr. They both shoot about the same in our rifles. With the 165 we have killed whitetail, zebra, kudu, impala, black and blue wildebeest, and red hartebeest. With the 180 we have killed more of the same plus blesbok, springbok, warthog, gemsbok, Texas pigs, red stag, axis deer and puma. None of the animals expired differently due to the 15gr difference. I recovered my first Barnes bullet (180gr) in a gemsbok a few days ago. All others have been pass throughs and we always try to shoot through the shoulders Gemsbok was quartering towards me. Broke the front shoulder and was bulging through the skin on the other side behind the ribs. This has all been in different 30-06 rifles. We only shoot the 180gr bullet now just for simplicity. Safe shooting.

Disclosure - I have not used the specific bullet you are asking about. But I have used a lot of Barnes X bullets on game, and think the TTSX is a very good bullet. If you are shooting at distances that most hunters consider "normal", and you put the bullet in the right place, you will kill stuff dead. If you are planning to take shots much past 300-400 yards, then Barnes bullets are not the best choice as expansion becomes less reliable.

If you are shooting at distances that most hunters consider "normal", and you put the bullet in the right place, you will kill stuff dead. If you are planning to take shots much past 300-400 yards, then Barnes bullets are not the best choice as expansion becomes less reliable. I used to believe the same until I used .30 cal TTSX at those distances. I havs shot game with 130 gn, 165 gn and 180 gn TTSX. Even on lightly built game bullet expansion is all you could want even with complete bullet pass through which is common on broadside shots even past 300 yards in my experience. I don't hesitate at all on those longer shots. I think TTSX expansion is better than the TSX. Another, unscientific, thing I have done is shoot water filled jugs with different bullets at varying distances to compare the effects. Mostly I shot cup & core, bonded, TSX and TTSX. Almost always the most explosive destruction of water jugs occurred with TTSX bullets. It was quite noticeable. It suggested to me very rapid expansion. I’ve killed three elk with the 165 gr TSX in my 300 Win Mag, they kill like lighting. Distances from 359 yds to 250 yards.

If that bullet is accurate in your 300 WBY you are set for anything from Antelope to grizzly Bears, load up a bunch and don't worry about it, shoot stuff.

I have used the 165gn TTSX and also the 168gn TTSX through my .300WM. I used the 165gn at 3170 FPS in Namibia and took a couple of kudu bulls including a 58" that was shot from behind as he fled the scene. Two mountain zebra including a very heavy stallion at 383 yds. Couple of plains zebra. Also took Blue Wildebeest, gemsbok, couple of warthogs, springbok and ostrich. Have used the 168gn TTSX at 3215 FPS on multiple feral camels including some large bulls that can weigh up to 1500lbs. They are very accurate in my Blaser and have performed to my expectations. I might move up to the 180gn if my primary targets were the larger species. Quite a few of the projectiles that I have used were still inside the animal. In some cases a little more penetration wouldn't have gone astray. The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. I have used the non tipped and tipped 165 on wildebeast, gemsbok, warthogs, hartebeest, white tail, mulies, elk, and a lot of smaller African game and it has always performed as advertised. It is my only load for my Sauer 30/06. DRSS Kreighoff 470 NE Valmet 412 30/06 & 9.3x74R

Its all I have used in my 30-06, incredibly effective. Use it and don't think twice, it will hold together at 300 Wby speed and deliver.
