Anybody have any experiences good, bad or otherwise with R22 in the STW?? Velocities compared to other powders?? Accuracies?? I'm loading 140 gr. TSX's as a long-range deer load and am thinking around 80.0 gr. of R22 should be in the ballpark.

Strut10 ----- I shoot a huge amount of RL-22 yearly (.257 Wby, 7mm Wby, .300 Winny, .340 Wby, .358 STA, .416 Rigby) but try as I might, H-1000 shoots by far the best with my 7mm STW, and always has. wave Good shooting.

Quickload 3.2 indicates a MAX load of 75 gr. for this combination; of course it's only an estimation.

I use RL22 in my 7mm Dakota (pretty close to the STW) & like it but I find IMR7828 a bit more consistent.

My 80.0 gr. estimate was from Alliant's data with the 150 gr. Sierra. I figured by backing off 10 gr. in bullet weight to a 140 I should be in the ballpark with using the 150 gr. charge. Maybe flawed logic??

My 7mmSTW shoots RL-25 and H-1000 great with bullets from 140 to 160.
FYO, I was a bit dissapointed in my velocity till I want to FED 215 M primers, added about 75 fps in a hart beat !

215M is what I use, too.

Funny, though..........in a .375 Wby. load I do with H-414, the 210M gained me around 100 fps over the 215M. Go figger.

.....Quickload indicates 75 gr. as MAX for the Sierra 150 gr.(SPBT) as well.

I use RL22 with 120s in my STW. When I move up to the 140 & 160 I slow down to 7828 and RL25.

As usual just my $.02

It also raises your pressures, but 75gr of powder is where I start reaching for mag primers.

Ditto that! This has been my experience with Remington's 8m/m magnum and the, then new anyway, ultramag.

That's a difference of over 6% between Alliant's published data and Quickload. IMO, that's pretty considerable. Do you generally find Quickload to be close to what works in reality?
