Anyone have ant experience with the Oryx line of bullets from Norma? Particularly the 232 grain offering in 9.3mm? I have not sen a lot on info on this bullet on the net and think for NA game it might be a good alternative to the 286's and with less recoil. Your thoughts?

I think it was replaced with the 286 grain Oryx, but it works well, I have used their 232 grain bullet with good results on large african game, shot a 236 kg eland cow with it and had no problems

Norma replaced the 15 gram Oryx in 9,3 with the 18,5 gram Oryx. Its sad that they dropped the 15 gram bullet, it was a good one The big diameter and light weight makes the 15 gram bullet short and expantion tend to turn the bullet into a ball though.

The 18,5 gram Oryx dont shoot as well at the 15 gram Oryx in my 9,3X66 with a Sako barrel.

The 18,5 Plastic tip and the Alaska is quite fragile and I would stay avay from them on big game and v/0 over 700 m/s.

Have a look at Lapuas new Naturalis in 9,3! I have loaded it for the moosehunting here in Sweden this year but havent got to try it on a moose yet. My friend have shot a cow with the 17,5 gram bullet in his 9,3X64 (v/0 750 m/s) and the performace was good. The bullet did not penerate the cow though. We had expected penetration in most situations! The shot was a rather tuff angeling one with lots of big bones chrushed in the entry side. The bullet was recovered on the far side under the skin.

Has anyone tried the 250gn Nosler ballistics tips (9.3) on large game? I have some and would love to know what experiences anyone has had with them.

They sure are acccurate in my 9.3x62mm!!

I had serious plans to load my 9,3X66 with the Nosler 250 gr BT when I whent to RSA last Apr. I couldnt get hold of any bullets here in Sweden and settled for Swift A-frames instead. When I recovered a bullet from a Kudu I shot I didnt feel bad about my choise of bullet....... I think the Nosler BT would had great troubble to stick together when I saw the punishment the A-frame had taken........

The thick jacket in the 9,3 BT bullet should stand up to some abuse but I would try it out in wet newspaipers or similar before I go after big game with it.

I shot an elk with the 9.3 Balistic tip and it broke a shoulder and stopped on the off side skin perfectly expanded, unfortunatly some one I know and love lost the bullet...

It worked but I think I would still prefer a premium bullet just for my own piece of mind...

But the 9.3x62 at its modest velocities is very easy on bullet integrity, thats why its so well praised by those who use that wonderful caliber....bullet failure in a 9.3 is almost unheard off. The only bullet that I know of that will fail is the 270 gr. Speer, its just too soft IMO...
