I've not seen one from the custom shop.....for $2700 I'd expect a lot more refinement and better wood than this gun has..... Any other opinions? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." CDNN ran these about 10 months ago. THey were NIB going for $1200 (ish). They had around 50 ea of 260 Rem, 7mm-08, and 308's. The 260 went in a flash, the 7mm-08 were gone by the time I noticed the ad and called. The 308's moved slow and these were available for months I was going to buy on in a 7mm-08, but by the time I called they were gone. I wouldn't consider paying MSRP for one Winchester is nuts. For what this buyer bought this for he got a decent price, and they are not a bad little rifle all and all. Just not 3K worth.

I would be extremely upset if I ordered one of these rifles, expecting the beautiful rifle they show on their website, and instead getting one of these rifles. I do not think that I would pay more than $200 more than a standard rifle for one of these!

The wood is definatly nicer than a rack grade Winchester. The current rrack grade stocks are just short of awful, dark, look like plastic venner on cheap kitchen cabinets to me. How much more it worth I am uncertain, definately not 2700 dollars worth. I think the current super grade is around $1100 I put it on par with those. I am not really impressed with any factory stocks currently, Look at what Dakota is calling exhibition grade, I am no wood expert but I am certain what Dakota is selling isn't exhibition grade. I wish that small short action was available in a cheaper rifle though, I wouldn't mind having on of those actions to work with on a custom rifle.
