If someone with an original Mauser Sporter in 9.3x62 would be willing to provide me with some of the barrel dimensions, I would be most appreciative. If you have one and can help, please PM me and I will enumerate the dimensions I need (such as muzzle diameter). I have two sets of dimensions but I would like some that I can document from an actual rifle. thanks.

Lothar Walther in Germany have the E-type dimensiones. If noboby pops up with the correct profile dimensions on AR, you might have to contact them. Merry Christmas. DRSS: HQ Scandinavia. Chapters in Sweden & Norway

Walther's "E" pattern of the type "A" mauser sporter is a bit thicker than the measurements given in Speed's book. Anybody have BFaucet's contact info? He bought Osa Johnson's 9.3x62 Type "A" mauser several years ago. Would love to have ALL the measurements off that rifle, including stock dimensions. I did a search and it looks like BFaucet hasn't posted here in a couple of years. Matt FISH!! I have Lothar Walthers dimensions; they aren't from a 9.3 (and they aren't from Germany either; they are in Georgia)). I did write to the new owner of the Johnson rifle but no response yet.

They have their American extension in Georgia, and one can deal exclusively with them for all ones needs. However, they are still a German company with their home office/facilities in Germany. Kind of like foreign auto makers setting up shop in the U.S. Matt FISH!! Woody at Lothar Walther in Georgia has H&H demensions from Mauser that came off a barrel I sent him, then he has the original demensions of the Mauser barrel that had the flat slide on that fitted the Mauser barrel band rear sight sights on some original Mauser sporters..and he had a standard sporter barrel at one time, I suppose he still does. Jim Brockman has those demensions as I recall. Problems exist along these lines as barrel demensions from original Mauser sporters apparantly vari, as they changed over the years for whatever reason. I suspect Jack Belk could answer all those questions for you, but I don't know how to get hold of him..someone may be able to help you there...Jack knows more about Mausers than anyone I know. I should ad that measurements were taken from Type A(akah African) and not from the longer barelled and long stocked so named African Rifle . The Inner Radius of the transition from barrel shank to the portion where the sight base starts I can´t measure up. The step from that part to the diameter where the sight base is sleeved on is sharp with a minimum undercut for perfect fit. The second step shows a short outer radius.

Type A; that is good and I understand about the long barreled true African model. thanks.
