Can anyone help me find a thread about a bullet test link that was in a post. I am not sure which forum it was in but there was a test of several 30-06 bullets. I would like to find it again. Thanks.

Maybe it was Gary Sciuchetti's Best Bullet Test. It is a large File.

Best of luck to you.

Maybe this one, 3 pages, takes a couple of seconds to load.

Or may be this one.

Hope this helps.

These are great stories, and very well done.

Hot Core has the one I was looking for. It is an eye opener. I am especially impressed with the Winchester Power Point as a factory bullet.

Wow! That's probably the most comprehensive test I've ever seen!

Since it only compares .30cal bullets of 180gr weight, its scope is rather limited. However, since I'm a .30cal shooter (and will probably never need anything else) it's a treasure-trove of data!

Thanks for linking to that!!!

Yeah Sarg,
It is limited to one caliber, and probably the most "researched" caliber and cartridge, but it is kind of enlightening. I still can't get over the Winchester Power Point and Remington Round Nose Core-Lokt. Even the Grand Slam was surprising. Kind of makes me wish I shot a 30-06.

It is a shame that Mr. Sciuchetti has not updated his info to include the latest generation of those Bullets as well as all the new ones. However, the first Test was a massive undertaking as anyone can see.

It appeared to me the Remington RNs were of the old - Wasp Waist Design. They quit making them like that for a good many years. But, apparently Remington brought it back with their Ultra-Bonded Design(which is not in the Test).

Oh yes, the Grand Slam is no longer a Hard Rear Core with a more malable Hot-Cor front half. They are all now very similar to the old Speer Mag Tips, or so it seems to me.

Also agree the Win Power Points did right well, just as they have for many years on-game.

Good Hunting and clean 1-shot Kills.

Hotcore, I believe the remington roundnose is still made the same as always. Their only style core lokt that still is.

I certainly agree. I find it very interesting that the only two bullets that both held together at the highest test velocity and expanded at the lowest test velocity were the "lowly" and "cheap" Power Point and RN Core Lokt. The Core-Lokt's weight retention figures are even on par with the Nosler Partition (with the Core-Lokt still having much less penetration).

Any idea when this test was done? I can't find a date printed on it.

Hey 270bdl, You may be correct. I've not shot any of them in awhile, but will gladly accept that they didn't change. Good for Remington thumb

Maybe 10-12 years ago.

If you would like to know for sure, you can email gsciuchetti@yahoo.com and ask him. I have one of the full size prints which he used to sell for $15(which included Shipping thumb). He may still have some.
