I just picked up a Rem 700P LTR in 308 Win. I would like to know more about it. Any information would be appreciated. Also any bullet/load combinations from anyone would be appreciated.

Try 46.5 gr of Varget with 150s or 44.5gr of Varget with 165s. Great rifle you will enjoy.

Another load, very close to 30378's...

Try 44 grs of Varget with Sierra 168 MatchKings.

It shoots great in my 308.

Other powders that have worked well for me are Win 748 and IMR 4064.

Believe it or not, I have never used a 308 for hunting, only target/competition, and so have settled on the 168 SMK. I tried the 175 SMK but my rifle HATED them (although they do normally have a great reputation, especially at the longer ranges).

What are you planning on doing/shooting with your rifle? You'll probably get better and more specific responses if we know what you are looking for.

Over the last 5 years or so,
I have gone through 3 rifles in .308.
1 was a Model 7 rem, it did real well with varget, then I had a styer, it hated varget loved RL-15, and the .308 I have now is a pre 64 featherweight ,it only likes IMR 4064.
Tosses everything else all over the paper.
Last I herd , the military snipers where using RL-15.
Not knowing what you are shooting at makes it hard to recomend a bullet.
For deer I like 165s...tj3006

Thanks guys, I will try some of those out. I am probably just going to punch paper with it.
Can anyone tell me more about the rifle itself.

Sorry, but no. I've never handled or shot an LTR.

However, I have had a few of the "full sized" PSS's, in 223 and 308, and without a doubt, they are accurate rifles.

Your LTR should shoot well, and be a bit more pleasant to carry....

Heavy BBL, 'm sorry I don't know more about the specific model you have. I shoot a .308 Rem 700 VSSF. This model is a 26" barrel and heavier than yours. I would shoot 155 Sierra's and 46 Varget for 1/3 MOA and be a happy camper. Generally speaking your model is arefined version of the VSSF varmint style Rem has been pushing out for years. It's a great choice, so enjoy it!

Good shooting

cheers

44 grains of IMR4064 and a 165 grain Hornady BTSP Interlock. Work up slowly.

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to shooting this new rifle. I am thinking about shooting 155 - 168gr bullets. I am thinking about starting with the Hornady A-max. I think that I would like to try some Sierra bullets also.
