Ramping up to build a pair for my son and I. Both based on Ruger #1's (Dakota taste, Ruger budget ) Intend to chamber mine up in 7x57R (will have his chambered in .257 Roberts). Would the appropriate classic 7x57R designator then be .275 Rigby Flanged? Hank Life, it's good...

Hank, I don't know the answer, but I do have a falling block rifle marked ".275 Flanged" on the barrel (not my doing). I think it's a bit silly, since I have never seen and probably never will see a cartridge case so headstamped. On the other hand, there's plenty of 7x57R on the market. I'd just go with 7x57R if I were you. BTW, it's a great cartridge and despite the barrel marking I do love my little rifle in that caliber. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Man, what a lovely pair. Excellent taste, and excellent choices. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author
