I have several older Remingtons but as with others, I have become disillusioned with their quality in the last few years. The J-lock was the last straw. I finally accepted the fact that they have the SP-type of finish because their metal finish isn't up to snuff and they can save some money in the manufacturing process. I bought a M-70 a little over a year ago after much debate. I have spent many hours on the deer stand henpecking the quality of it. The metalwork and fit and finish are outstanding. It also has a real extractor and ejector. I have no worry that when I bolt the round and pull it back the brass is coming out. Go hold the bolt of a remington and winchester side by side and see what I mean. No comparison in my book. Sort of like a lifetime warranty- it ain't worth a damn if your gun, scope, etc. is broke and your got a 180 class deer standing in front of you. Get quality. Get a Winchester.

Well just to say i got a Remington model 700BDL SS with a 24" barrel in a 270 win. I like it .
Its got a 1 1/2 LB trigger pull and i get a 5 Shot Group at 5/8 " @ 100 Yards and thats with factory ammo .Not Reloads the reloads will be soon if i can get the time to load .As for the J Lock thats no biggie . Yes there are alot better guns out there if you got the money to spend at the time of geting the gun .Like i said Remington model 700BDL are not that bad of a gun . How many gun can you buy for under $500 And get a factory ammo to shoot a 5 shot group at 5/8" @ 100 Yards. [Razz]

one shot kills when you hit the mark----> (x)
