If we see Browning or Rem chamber this round, then Winchester and Rem may make some but unsure until then. I Do believe Fed is the only major ammo mfg to produce it, adding the 200 fusion load to the 185x, 210 partition, and 180 ball. tip. Pretty much covers it, but the last 3 will be pricey vs fusion or if another co. made 'non-premium' ammo, and for most hunting at these velocities, premium bullets are not necessary, but cannot hurt.

Handloads with a 200 Hornady should do very well on alot of game, owners of 350 and 358's have killed alot of deer and hogs with the 200gr's, and the 338 bore should have higher SD hence penetration.

"Assumeing" the jacket thickness and taper is the same between the two bullets, yes i agree.

You just can't pick two completely bullets and compare them without knowing the above though..

You make a good point, and many 338 bullets are 'harder' but not all.

I avoided 215 sierras and 225 hornadys in my '06 version, but they may be perfect for medium range work with the 338 F. The 200 hornady should be great on deer, and may work fine on larger game if heavy bone is avoided.

The 185x and 210 partition can do a good job on all as the partition nose is made to open at slower speeds.

Federal is the only producer of ammo I've seen for the new cart.

I've thought of a Tikka T3 Lite Chambered in the 338 Fed but, decided to wait a while and see if the reloading components become more available.

I think a 200 grn NAB would be good medicine for large whitetail, boar, and elk at medium ranges.

I do believe the tikka/sako action is a tad more than one american short action.

That said, the 200 AB would be a good bullet, great actually. Paper ballistics may not impress, but I am sure it will get it done fine.

I had a 338-06, and for what I do, it was more than needed here, perfect out west, northwest, having more reach than some may give it credit.

Let's just say the '06 version can do 2900 easy with the 200, whereas the 308 version does 2600, which is still nothing to sneeze at, esp. at ranges many animals are encountered.
