Jorge: Regarding the quote the Kimber barrels "ain't what they used to be" you are probably right. They are better than ever. I have 3 8400's and all shoot 1/2 minute at 200yds (3 shots 1 inch or less). The 270 WSM has shot sub 1/2 inch groups at 200. The Sako 75's must shoot 5 shots into less than 1 inch at 100yds the Tikka's must shoot 3 shots into less than 1 inch at 100yds. As of now they are not providing the test targets - it would be nice if they did. I wouldn't put a Tikka's finish ahead of Weatherby's but I do think the Sako 75's are much better made than a MK V - I looked at 2 more today. Lovers of the old glossy finish Monte-carlo stocks with skip line checkering should look at a Sako Deluxe - it's a dead ringer for the old california style (which is why I traded that one off). I did have a MK V 338-06 in the Lightweight version that I liked a lot. It would shoot about 1 1/2 inches at 200yds. Not as good as the Kimbers but plenty good enough. The Factory Ammo was loaded so hot (210 Partitions), that spent primers would sometimes fall out at the first shot with the factory load! I'm sure this didn't much improve the smoothness of the action. I'd still have it except I was offered a great trade on a Dakota 9.3x62 so the Weatherby went.........DJ

DJ: I guess one should not believe eveything you read, but the folks in the post below over in the gunsmiting forum had some pretty disparaging issues with Kimbers titled "Tell Me about Kimber of Oregon's BGRs." There's a couple of posts there from gents that I trust, suffice to say that it's enough to preclude me from Kimber Rifles.jorge Here's the link: Kimber barrels
