It's based on the Swedish M 94 small ring Mauser action.

I have bolts in Winchester Mod 70, pre and post 64. Rem 700, and CZ.

One of my buddies father and law has a 30-06 Husqvarna.

Part of my like could be the 7 military Swedish Mausers I also have.

If we could include military models then I might opt for the Swiss K-31 or possibly the Schmidt Rubin 1911


I love my 9.3x57 1943 M46a!!
I also have a 1955 640 w/ original Short side rail in 8x57, 1962 1600 in 6.5x55, and a number of Military Swede Mausers.

I shoot the following rifles in bolt actions. 1-Sako Model 995, 2- Browning A-Bolts, 2-Weatherby A-5's, and 8-Model 70 Winchesters, if that tells you anything. Good shooting.

Blaser R93. It's got the best out-of-the-box performance there is. No tuning or gunsmithing required.

Although I probably have more experience with the Rem 700, I voted for Browning because every one I have owned or shot was accurate and looked really good to me.

Voted other because my favorite is still my Parker Hale No.4 Enfield in .303, works like the day I bought it 20 years ago and makes a neat 3 shot clover leaf at 100 yards.
Second favorite is pre 1964 model 70 Winchester in 30-06 even though that one hardly ever gets out of the vault.
Both are simple in function and dead nutts reliable.

Hmm, modern, maybe, but I'd stick with an FN or even Interarms before lowering myself to using a Santa Barbara.

Nicest modern commercial Mauser action of course being the Brno 21/22 series.

I'm quite fond of my Mauser type S in 7x57.


Dont forget the J.C Higgins variations. Any Belgium Mauser action is excellent. The Argentine Mausers are nice actions too.

As for current production, I dont have any but I like what I see with CZ and Steyr.

For sure volume it is the Winchester M70. Great action, love the featherweights.

If I could afford them, it would be SAKO Finnbear rifles. The Finns got all the little details right.

Always went with Mod 70's Folks in my neck of the woods consider Rem 700's only good if you need a long tent peg. However..if sent out for another rifle it would be a Sako 85.
