I need to know more about it...just because Big Grin
(Von or Vom?)

But seriously, the above thread about the .280 Ross got me thinking about this one...who has one and shoots one?

I think ALF posted once he had one?

Do you still see them around in Europe much?

I have seen some old ballistc info...its a pretty hot number....I remember seeing reference to a 160gr bullet - was that standard?

Is the case head similar in size to either the 9,3x64 Brenneke or 8x68S ? Or totally unique case?

Pics of rifles and ammo would be appreciated...anyone make ammo/cases still?

Cheers

Von... Vom is dative of Von, no reason to present a stand-alone name in dative form.

No, they are oddball calibers here as well.

Just something to remember about the German 7mm's they are not the same as American 7mm's this rifle like the original 7x64 and 7x57 has a larger bore than the American 7mm.

The bore (zug) is 6.98mm with groove to groove (feld)of 7.24mm. The twist is also slower 1:260mm, it's slower than the 7x57 and the 7x64

I saw that from Gerhards site - he makes 7mm bullets available in .285" for Euro origin 7mm's to compensate for this it seems.

With that slower twist was it intended to use lighter bullets or just stabilze better due to higher velocities? At 1:260mm is roughly 1:10". Are most 7x57's not about the same (newer ones)?
The older euro ones are 1:9" about aren't they?
thanks for cearing up the MS thing! I really would love to own an MS, do what reading I can on them and had never read of one in 7x66VHSE..

Hmmm...my flavour of the week is now 'dated' but great 7mm's! .280 Ross, 7x61S&H and 7x66VHSE.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers
