Me too, I have seen 3 FN Mauser rifles (.270, .30-06, and ?) in excellent condition for around $500. How is 'rough' ca. 1946 rifle with obsolete optic at $525 a steal?

I know a guy who pays 500 bucks for a pre 64 action, with no stock or barrel. And a 1946 is a transision rifle, mostly pre war model 70 parts.
I would think the rifle would sell on E-bay for probably 700.00.
And I would bet the rile and scope combination as is would be just fine for a hunting trip tommorow, just as likly to bring home your buck as anything newer.
500.00 for a like new FN is a prety good deal. I might pay 350 for an restocked FN 30,06 I saw today, still mulling over a Brno mauser I saw...tj3006

A pre 64 Winnie will ALWAYS appreciate in value.. As far as older optics are concerned, i'd rather have an older Redfield than some of these new POS made in China and Japan optics. I'll give ya that there are a lot of good optics out there but there's nothing wrong with the older name brand optics. In fact, I'll take as many old Unertl scopes as you want to sell!!

T.J.-
I think you're one lucky so of a gun. I paid somewhat more than that for mine. Won't tell ya how much I had to sink into it to get it up to par. I will say tho that the action & barrel are original & boy does it shoot. Nailed a caribou with it about 2 weeks ago. If ya reload, I'd suggest you try Rldr-22 & a 150 Partition.
Congrats on yer new toy. Bear in Fairbanks

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I never thought that I'd live to see a President worse than Jimmy Carter. Well, I have.

Gun control means using two hands.
