Build a .358 STA or .358 Norma Magnum.

among the great wildcat options is the possibilities on the .375 Ruger case..... It's a deep dark secret that the lord populated the planet with many 7-mags to have bases for the XXX -.375 Ruger! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." well what do you want to do with it? If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

Echoing .358 STA or 8mm Remington Magnum for something different. .416 Taylor would be a close third. ________ "...And on the 8th day, God created beer so those crazy Canadians wouldn't take over the world..."

6.5 rem mag, no bolt face work, plenty of mag room to seat those long 140 gr bullets out. 140 gr bullets to 3100 fps, no recoil, what's not to like. ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

Really depends what you are going to do with it. Thin skinned game, hogs, etc go with the 257 Weatherby. If you are after bigger stuff the 338 Remington Ultra Mag might be interesting. The .264 Win Mag makes even more sense /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

A .338 RUM offers Lapua performance for about 1/2 the price. The 6.5 Rem mag offers 270 performance so it wouldn't be one of my choices, however the .338 Win mag would be great. Combining the stopping power of a freight train with a reasonably flat trajectory, it would be an economical changeover.

.338 Winchester Magnum. It would be the perfect compliment to your 7mm Magnum. In fact, I have a matching pair of rifles in those calibers, both synthetic stocked (Brown Precision). The 338 wears open sights sighted in to point of aim with 250 grainers at 100yds. Also has a Leupold 2.5x-8x in detachable rings. The 7mm has a Zeiss Diavari 3x-9x. It would be hard to find anything that I could not hunt with them. Although I do have a completely different African battery. The 338 went to Zimbabwe with me in 2005 as my light rifle to my .458WM.

I'd go with a 338 caliber. Great bullet selection. Usually not finickly, easy to load for. Either the Win or take a step up to the 340 Wby and the 338 RUM. I've hunted the last two seasons with the 338 RUM, using 225-250 gr Accubonds. Beleive me, its a hammer.
