It is a .300WBY Mag. with a German mark V receiver that was built in 1973. It specs are; Mark V action 26" #2 shilen with Bansner muzzle brake tuned trigger new ejector and extractor McMillan Fibermark style stock bedded and textured Leupold one piece base With 8x40 screws Leupold medium 1" rings Black Phosphate Parkerizing on metal matte black DuraCoat on the stock. The next two pictures are the 180gr TSX , RL-22 moving at 3287fps, three shot group at 100yds and the group size is .334†second group with same load was 1.0095" This third picture is 180gr TSX , IMR7828 moving at 3211fps, three shot group at 100yds and the group size is .452†Bullet: 180gr TSX Powders used: H4831, IMR7828, MRP, RL-22, RL-25 Primer used CCI 250 Large Rifle Mag. Brass used: New, unprimed Weatherby brass. OAL was: 3.710†Please work up to any loads I have used although safe in my rifle might not be in yours. I used unprimed New Weatherby brass and not neck sized once fired brass because I wanted accuracy with full sized new brass so that each round would feed easy because of some of the game I will be hunting. Did not have a group over 1 ½†group with the TSX no matter what power or charge I used. With H4831 it took 85grs to reach just over 3200fps and accuracy was the worst of the bunch which 1 ½†but not not bad for hunting load. RL-25 gave good velocity over 3200fps but not the accuracy I wanted it was over 1†also. Now MRP was over 3200fps but was also over 1†in group size. IMR7828 was 3211fps and shot a .452†group. The real surprise was RL-22 with 84.5 not so much in velocity which was 3287 but in accuracy, a .334†and a 1.0095"group. WOW!!!! What a load, Yep this will be my load at this velocity and accuracy even for the big ones. What a day at the range. It all happened so quick without a bunch of trouble, not a single problem of any kind. Thank you Lord! Now I don’t have to spend a ton of money and a lot of time tweaking powder or OAL. By the way it was 85degrees at the hottest point on this morning and no pressure signs with the two loads shown in the pictures. I measured the base and all loads were under .0004 and no flatten out primers or shiny marks on the bottom of the brass. I worked up this load making sure there were no pressure signs. I measured the base of my case and as I have already said it was not yet .0004 - Also no imprint of any kind on the bottom of the brass. This might be a cool lot of RL-25 and lots can very as much a 10%, so I will not use this pound for anything but this load. If I buy more RL-22 when I run out of this lot, I will back off 10% and work up again. Do not use my load without first backing off 10% and working up using proven methods to determine pressure signs. Your rifle might not take the pressures that mine can, your case capacity if not Weatherby brass will be different and your lot of RL-22 could be as much as 10% hotter than my lot You know I can take advangtage of my 300WBY, 3287fps 180gr TSX I am 3.09" high at 100yds and -6.71 low at 400yds and at this point at 400yds I hold cross hair on top of shoulder of deer, black bear, elk, out to 500yds. Oh, by the way with 4317fbs of energy and a tough bullet, my 30 cal will do just fine and will drop anything in North America up close or far off. I will use my 416WBY for up close real tough stuff in tick cover and for real short shots but also it is good out to 37O with the TSX load I will use. This 180gr TSX has still got 2081 foot pounds at 600yds and as I said with a tough bullet 0-500 the animal can kiss it good by, it is dead!!! Roy Weatherby was right about his 300WBY. Hornady had it right when he said, "the 300WBY is bad news for big game."

No the muzzle brake can not be removed and I don't want it to be removed. It has back ports that blow forward reducing my noise as the shooter and brings my 300WBY from 39lbs recoil to 18lbs.

Yes, you are so right. 5BB, I will be doing so in about a week or so as I work up loads for my 416WBY. I will let you know how it turns out.

What's up with that last group? It isn't a single hole. All kidding aside. What a fantastic combination!! Thanks for sharing.

It was my pleasure and if you or someone you know uses the load data in a 300WBY, let me know how it turns out. This is a real killer on anything I have hit with it whether up close or far off. The Barnes 180gr TSX has truly brought the 300WBY mag into it's own, where it should have been a long time ago but because of bullet construction it had it's limits up close. Now the TSX will hold together under these velocities when killing up close and will open up at 1800fps real good and my 300WBY is still traveling 2282fps at 600yrds. Yes, this is a great load in a great cartridge with outstanding accuracy.
