Well just before I order my Tikka Whitetail Hunter in .308 I have a question. I am torn should I buy a Sauer LAW ( 202 LW), Tikka T3, or an Tikka Whitetail hunter. Aleko

Why not get a 308 bbl for your Blaser R-93? Mine shoots real good.

Personally I like the T-3 plus I am looking a light weight rifle so I'd be all over this one. Just my thoughts "GET TO THE HILL" Dog

I thought about that, however we carry more than Blaser, so I thought I would create a series of reviews around another brand we carry. Aleko

Personally I would take the Whitetail Hunter while it is available and spend more on the scope and rings instead of taking the Sauer. The Tikka WH will not disappoint you. Regards

Aleko, I say try the Sauer than the new T3, don't know if any of those are offered in left hand but the Sauer's I have seen sure were smooth rifles and handle real well to boot.

I second the vote for Sauer.

How about a Charles Daly Mauser in .308? Aleko

Hertiage- I would go with the whitetail hunter over the T3. I think the T3 was created to reintroduce Tikka to US with a new gun and marketing campaign since acquired by Beretta. I have seen nothing on the T3 thats made better than the WH. They redesigned the stock-so what. It is a little but easier to adjust trigger pull and they offer a lite version. Other than that I see nothing new about the T3 except something new to market and sell. I dont like the fact that the T3 only comes in 1 bolt length and has different size bolt stops to fit different length cartridges. So every caliber is a long action pull including short magnums. I think it is a cheaper gun. The WH has proven itself over time and never met someone or heard of someone that had one that didnt perform well. The T3 performed well in AMerican Hunter magazine axcept in 270 WSM I believe would not group under 4" with various scopes. It came out in AMerican hunter a couple months ago. I think the the T3 was invented to sell something as NEW for marketing hype only. But this is only my opinion

I traded in a Sako for a Sauer 202. It was the right thing to do, I will never trade that rifle away.

I would say buy the one with a decent barrel length and diameter in a rifle that's hefty, but not too much so. You know your limitations better than we do. Last year I foolishly purchased a Browing Micro-medallion in .308Win. Oh, it was a cute little rascal. I just had to have it with it's thin little 20" barrel and 6lb weight. I do a lot of range firing as well. That rifle kicks so bad it won't even stay in the cradle. The rifle forend end isn't so pretty now, after hitting the bench top more than a few times. I've since added a Pacymyer Decelerator pad, and that helps some. If this rifle has 2 more inches of barrel and 1.5 more pounds it would be a delight. Be practical in your selection. In the long run you'll be happier. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

Cal I agree your rifle would not be fun for a day at the range. There are two types of rifles.....Range/bench rifles and true hunting rifles. Your rifle is a great hunting rifle. Keep it as is and get you another "bench/range" rifle.
