OK

Golly ! Just what we need. Another leason from Sand Box 101.It took us 63 years to learn from the 8mmKurz.It took the Russians only 2 years. And than we had to spend a lot of tax dollars over all those years to come up with what? OOOOOO goody.

<eldeguello>Roger, you're right! This thing performs almost exaxtly the same as the 7.62X39 firing a 130 to 140-grain bullet! And pray tell, what are the case dimensions? Is it short enough for the CZ 527?
28 April 2004, 15:18
tdobeshThe case dimensions are 6.8X45mm I would assume the case length being the same as the 5.56 NATO was quite intentional to make sure it would fit and function in the M-16. Just fit it with a new upper for the new cartridge and rock and roll. Just for what it's worth that also means it will fit quite nicely into the CZ527!

courtney plater CZ-527 in 6.8 SPC is this what you're looking for. The ballistics look very close to the .250 Savage.

smallfryThe 270 savage improved always interested me, though I havent owned one.

<eldeguello>Except that the factory ball ammo has a bullet that weighs 115 grains, which in .277" diameter, gives a sectional density of only .214, placing it in the "varmint bullet" category! Seems to me this is another brilliant development that is going to require ever-increasing rifling twists, and ever-longer bullets, just as did the 5.56mm!!

RedlanderFor those that missed it the 6.8 Rem SPC was discussed earlier in this
http://www.accuratereloading.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB38&Number=526326&Forum=earlier in the year. Basically .250-3000 Savage in an M-16, but with better downrange ballistics than the 7.62X39. It should make the CZ 527 and similar mini-mausers neat little white-tail rigs for out to 250 yards. Once in production I bet they find their way under numerous Christmas trees as that "first deer rifle". I'd buy one in a heart-beat.
