Heard a rumor that Cooper was going to build a repeater, long action. Even more amazing it will be chambered in the normal .270, .30-06 as well as .280 Rem and.......... .280 AI !!

I've been out of the loop here for a few months so if this is old news forgive me.

I talked to Rob Behr today at Cooper and asked him about a centerfire repeater. He said it will be out this fall, in 30-06 sized action. All new action, not just cutting a magazine into their present actions.

I sure love the varminter I have. FOr what you get, I really think Cooper's are a great deal.

Doug.....Thanks!! I had heard they were doing an all new action, with a three shot detachable mag. Initial offerings are to be in .25-06, .270, .280 Rem .30-06 and .280 AI.

Yes they are great rifles. I've got a M21 in .222 Rem thats a tack driver. It shot great right out of the box. A couple of buddies have various Cooper CF's and other than one lone rifle, ALL of them shot v ery well and functioned fine out of the box.

Looking forward to filling another space in the safe. Been wanting a .25-06 for awhile now.

Frank-good to see your still lurking around a bit.

I've said for years if Cooper were to bring out a repeater and do it right they would sell like hotcakes.

Can't wait to see how they do!

Well I think that 've had my share of AI's, but I don't have enough Coopers yet. Shot my best ever group with the .243 AI Cooper today. Using 80 grain Bergers and V V 550 at 41 grains Federal 210 Match and R-P brass preped for accuracy and consistency, loaded .005 into the lands. 5 rounds went into .227 and 4 of those were .107 Not to shabby for a botique manufacturer. I do however need a long action which will shoot like that!

cheers

Now that Dakota and Winchester have their problems it would be sweet to see a FIREARMS MANUFACTURER that makes quality rifles come forward for the American shooter.

another sip...

cheers

Three shot magazine???? BRILLIANT!!!! I've wanted the rifle companys to abandon the 5 shot staggered magazines for years. You just need 2 shot mag really. One in the chamber and two in the mag. When was the last time you emptied your 5 shot mag with your bolt rifle at game? If you can't hit it with 3 shots you think 6 is going to make a difference? A single stacked mag also makes feeding issues go away for the most part. Kudos to Cooper for knowing what to build and building it right. FNMauser

It's not going to be as easy for Cooper to meed the 1/2" three shot 100 yd accuracy with such a gun. Anyway Winchester is still gone and we need somebody to make guns
for us.

These days I prefer a CRF action. Don't know the price of the new Cooper or even if it's a PF or not. There is the Nosler rifle available also in 280 AI or at least maybe it's available?

As to the 280 AI itself I have been there and done that with improved cartridges. I have a 7mm Magnum. That will do anything that a 280 will do and more.

To each his own.

Nosler is busy standardizing the 280 Ackley with SAAMI now. They will be offering their limited "custom" rifle chambered in 280 Ackley this fall, or at least that is the buzz.

They will offer the cartridge their factory ammo series as well, after the SAAMI process.
