I was looking at a 70 Winchester in 300 RUM at a local store. The rifle is new it has a walnut stock, looks like David Miller style? w/ blued finish. It is also a controled feed and has a 26 inch barrel. This gun is a real looker the finish and the wood are beautiful. The asking price is $429.00 is this a good price for one of these guns?
The 300RUM has been discontinued in the M-70. All the remaining rifles are deeply discounted. That's the best price I've heard of so far. I read a post by JBelk saying the 300RUM didn't feed well in the new CRF M-70 actions, You might want to research that a little before buying. Terry

I've found the Wincheseter model 70 in .300 RUM at less than the price of a used Rem 700 in 7mm Rem mag or .30-06. I don't know why this particular model and cartridge is so inexpensive, but it's one heck of a way to pick up a .30 caliber powerhouse! Guy

Bought a Mod70 Super Grade last summer. I haven't had a problem with it feed'n or eject'n and after having the action bedded and barrel free floated it shoots pretty damn good. I like it
