I recently took delivery of my along awaited rifle by one of my favorite makers, Sterling Davenpor. I want this rifle to shoot all North Fork bullets and to that end, I loaded up our favorite load as well as 9 others at lessor charges and discovered that the rifle loves the 250gr. soft point shooting into .75" with two different loads. It was 103 degrees at the range today and no pressure signs and two gr. less powder and an average veocity of 2732 f/s. The next step is to work on the FPS and CPS loads for that rifle. Truely an amazing effort by a great maker.

I have been waiting for its cousin to get here. About 4 years ago I commissioned 4 rifles from Sterling and we had some trouble with getting Kreiger to supply the big 50 cal barrel for the project. Anyway it finally arrived and Sterling got going on that project. Along the way he had to finish several others ahead of me and then It arrived. Now I have the 500 Jeffery, the 9.3, and soon the 404 Jeffery. I have two others to come on line next year, a 375 H&H and a 300 H&H. All rifles are on 1935 Chilean contract Orberndorf Mausers. I have a slam of mausers. I already have a 250-3000, a 6mm Rem., a 257 Roberts, a 7x57 and a 3006. I am pretty happy about the way things are working out.

I will see if I can post some pictures this week .
