A shop in CT named Cubeta's is listed as a master dealer. I went there to look at a Sauer but they don't have one! They gave a long story on how there was a switch from distributors but it seems that there is not much demand. They had last years Sig catalog which showed four versions of the 202. There was no 90 listed.

The 202 came in standard, deluxe, varmint and lightweight. The price of the standard was $1100 and a bbl to change caliber was $600.

I can get 202 supremes in the 1200 dollar range.
Also, you can get the euro luxus imported from Germany, but it takes 4 months.
I plan on buying a euro luxus (slightly different than the supreme) in 7X64.
I'd rather have a gun that shoots like these 202s do and pay the cash than buy a gun for half as much that needs work.

I already figured out all Matt77's were one and the same [Big Grin] . Your European 202 will come with a "rckstecher", i.e. a single (push forward to cock) set-trigger. The regular and very good trigger pull notwithstanding, those set-triggers become rather addictive and are particularly appreciated for long range, deliberate shots. I'll be interested in hearing your comments when time has arrived and, if interested, I'll put some loading data under the groups I posted above.

Andr,
I hope they don't put a 7X64 barrel on a 202 supreme and just import the rifle!!! That is my only concern. They did say that they would get me the luxus, I think I am going to call again to see what they say!!

Call sigarms in New Hampshire.
Go to the webiste for the number, it is under the contact link.
They actually have 7X64 barrels in stock, and the 9.3X62. I lack the rifle to put in on, they'll import the rifle with the barrel on it, but they won't go and take one with a 25-06 barrel or something and put what I want on it!!
No sweat, I'd rather have the european version anyway.

One more thing, Andr, does yours have a monte carlo stock (with cheek piece) or does it have a bavarian style stock?

We could call it a "subdued" Monte Carlo with cheekpiece. The grip has a very comfortable Wundhammer swell and the checkering goes around the forend.

Andr,
Thank You!
Now, I have spoken to yet another individual and he said he doesn't think Sigarms will import such a rifle. Now, he wasn't a representitive of the company. Last case scenario would be to find a European shop that would export it to the USA.
If that happened, I'd call and plead until they put a 7X64 barrel on a 202 Supreme at the New Hampshire facility!!

I love J.P. Sauers. I now own a J.P. Sauer double in 8X60RS (rechambered by Kurt Anschutz in 1942) from 8X57JRS). This rile was built in about 1912, and is in NRA "Very Good' condition. Both triggers can be set. I had to develop a load for it, as the original load used a 198-grain German bullet of some sort. My load uses a 200 grain Nosler partition bullet and 56 grains of H205 powder, in converted RWS 7X65R brass, for 2620 FPS MV. It is regulated to where it shoots both barrels into a 2.5" (or less) pattern at 100 meters from cold, clean bazrrels even to this day! Whoever owned it in the past used it a lot, but kept it in good shape. [Big Grin]

I agree. I just handled a new 202 Supreme and I was attracted to the Wundhamer Swell also.

A small dealer in Old Saybrook, CT, The Grouse Perch is stocking them and Blasers also. He offers a discount right up front. For a standard 202 it's $1050 and another barrel is $500. I did not push to see how far he would go on more off yet but I am somewhat interested. He did mention an expected price increase due next year.

This rifle seemed made very well on it's outward apprearance.

Matt 77,

There's something wrong with my yahoo e-mail Id and I can't open it, but if you mail Mr Christoph Meyer at Sauer or check out their website www.sauer-waffen.de/eng/index1.html they should be able to help you. They are extremely nice people, polite to a fault, and when I wanted some info from them they were particularly helpful even though my country's laws make it impossible for me to become their customer.

Good shooting, and, if you do mail Mr Meyer, please say Hi on my behalf!

thank you for the info.
I talk to so many people from around the world that I would like to shoot and hunt with.
The bad thing is, the world isn't getting any friendlier about guns.
The sad thing is, the bad people can always get guns. The good have to abide by the laws.
Do you hunt in India?
I extend this:
anyone that wants to experience freedom and the chance to hunt at his or her own pleasure,
come to the USA.
Half my ancestors are natives, the rest moved here to experience the freedoms my country offers.
I think it is great that people can move here and live a life they could not live in their homeland.
That is the beauty of the USA. YOu can live your life how you want. Very seldom is it that you have to explain yourself to someone. You don't have to justify your beliefs to anyone, and even if you do, what can they do about it? Nothing.
It is a great place and our doors are always open.

Matt 77,

Yes, I do hunt in India but hunting here is no longer like it was in the days of the British Raj. Nowadays, we can only hunt agricutural pests and that means foxes, boar and rabbits. Sometimes we have rogue animals like elephant, leopard etc that kill people and professional hunters are hired to shoot them - they are paid a princely amount of US $ 5 for the job. Why a desparately poor country like mine doesn't try to get money by getting hunters to pay to shoot rogue animals is something that only the socialist jokers who rule us know!

Yes, you live in a great country and are right to be proud of it. I have not visited your country but plan to do so in 2003 on business. I have lived in Russia and Singapore briefly, but that is another story.

My invitation to you (and to any AR member who visits India) to have dinner with me and my wife at my club is always open.

Good shooting, my friend! [Smile]

Hoehne,

The latest issue of Sporting Rifles www.sportingrifles.com says that Sauer have introduced a new version of the Model 90 called the 92 with a slimmer German style stock. However the new models aren't yet on the website. You could, however, mail them for a print catalogue.

Good shooting!

I also have a 202 in the German configuration with the single set trigger. My stock is slightly different with no cheekpiece just a big hog back, a schnable forend, palm swell, all in a dull mat finish. Yes the single set trigger is beautiful to work with on the bench. I tried it once under hunting conditions and it scared the bejesus out of me.
