I started working up loads and got decent results last weekend working my way up to 48 gr. Reloader 19 pushing the Barnes 140 gr. TSX. Went out this morning with loads going up to 50 grains of Reloader 19. I only shot 3 shot groups of each test load. The rifle is a VZ-24 action, 24" Douglas XX barrel, Timney side safety trigger, and a B&C stock. My previous load was the 154 gr. Hornady with 47 gr. Reloader 19, good for about 2700 FPS but .750"- .900" groups pretty consistantly. The TSX is an obviously more accurate bullet in my rifle, the 48 gr. load has shot .655-.720" the last two weekends. The 49 gr. load was worse so I did not have much hope for anything faster. But the 50 gr. load surprised me with a .568" center to center group, all side by side wth essentially no vertical spread. No signs of pressure so I'll load up 20 of these for next weekend for another trial run. Browningguy Houston, TX We Band of 45-70ers

This sounds very good so far, especially in the August heat and Reloder powder. I love those powders. Don't be surprised at all by adding more powder and getting tighter groups. Every rifle has a sweet spot with a powder and bullet, etc. I had a real good group years ago with a 140 btip in a 270 with IMR4831 minimum charge. Working up, all the groups sucked until I got to 1/2 grain under max. Then, the rifle printed a very small tight group. Loaded up 15 more, and the rifle reproduced the tight group all over again. (Since then, that load has taken more than 25 whitetail, and a few yotes and a bobcat). Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

Sounds like a prety good load to me. My cz 550 in the 7 mauser shoots lighter bullets well with H-414, I got some good groups today with that combo. With a 165 grain Hornady I get great results with RL-19, I use a lot more rl 19 powder than you, send Me a PM and I will tell you my load...tj3006 freedom1st

I am using IMR 4064 with the 140 TSX and getting one little one in the target with 3 shots. My weight is 44.5gr and it is chronied at 2855. It is a really killer on hogs and deer. Perry

You should try to work up to 52 grains or so of H414 if you're using Win. brass, a bunch less if R-P and will go well over 2900, maybe near 3000 fps. These are so consistent in the .6-.7 range in two different 7x57's that they bore me to pieces. Both of mine are long throated and wouldn't shoot conventional 140's at all, but were great with 160's. The long Barnes bullet works great in one of these. A shot not taken is always a miss
