Tex21 I think it was designed to be shot primarily schutzen/off hand with the ghost ring sight. You usually have a lot more drop in the comb for that position.

The .308, wow an accurate light rifle to hunt with thats versatile and good looking with ammo availability second only to the 22 rimfire. Great news!

That thing looks like it would wallop the shoulder fairly nicely... If Big Green could make their 700 action feed rimmed cartridges, a .303 Classic would be cool. I might even buy such an abstraction - that is, after I buy myself a pre-doomed .325 WSM model 70.

< !--color-->You have to look at things from Remington's view point. All of these rifles in somewhat obscure calibers haven't sold nearly as many as this one in 308 will. After all they are here to make money not fulfill wishes and fantasies.

Quote: I was just wondering about the source of this news. Anyone know? I couldn't find the announcement on Remington's web site. Remington is still showing Year Caliber 2005 Find out January 1, 2005! on their web site. http://www.remington.com/firearms/centerfire/700clpst.htm -Bob F.
