By looking at pictures from King Salomons mines(1950) with Steward Granger they are issued with rigbymausers in .350 cal. Does anybody know which of the .350cals... 400/350 or .350rimless..?? Scroll down to the bottom of this page: http://www.notrecinema.com/communaute/v1_detail_film.php3?lefilm=1367 It appears to be the .350 rimless with the "tucked in" bolt handle...however I wonder if there was anyone with a specific knowledge DRSS: HQ Scandinavia. Steward Granger went on several safaries after this movie, and a friend of mine bought the .465 H&H double rifle he was using when hunting on his own.

Actually, the movies of the 1950s seem to be rather accurate in their Safari weapons. Political correctness had not yet settled into place. Even the Doktari TV shows were relatively accurate when it came to the rifles, and the more recent Clint Eastwood hunting epic was also accurate. We should be thankful for small favors in the movie realms, after all, they are trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea. They cannot denigrate the hunter and still survive in their genre, interesting!!
